Asuke Shigenori (足助重範)
Shigenori ASUKE (1292-June 4, 1332) was a busho (Japanese military commander) in the late Kamakura period. He was a son of Rokurojiro Sadachika ASUKE. The seventh soryo (heir) of the Asuke clan who were based in Asuke no sho (the manor named Asuke) in Kamo County, Mikawa Province. His tentative name (common name) was Saburo. His children were Shigemasa (Kuro) and others.
Supporting the Emperor Godaigo in the Genko War, Shigenori, who was known for his excellence in the handling of a bow, fought well against the large-scale army of the bakufu (Japanese feudal government headed by a shogun) on Mt. Kasagi and defeated brothers of Kuro and Yagoro ARAO with long-distance arrows (archery). However, he was captured after the fall of the castle and executed in Rokujo-gawara, Kyoto City.
